Crime occurrences received wide coverage in the media in 2003 and early 2004, in particular where the victims were traumatized or death occurred. As a result, the safe city programme focused towards crime prevention (basically those categorized by the police to be property crime i.e. snatch theft, house break-in, motor vehicular theft, motorcycle theft, van and lorry theft, and other theft.<br />Other dimensions of safe city example social and moral ills/decay, natural disaster (floods), and accidents in and out of buildings are not incorporated in the current programme – the emphasis been on crime prevention.</span></div><div align="justify"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:78%;"><br /><span style="font-size:85%;color:#999900;">The significant of research study:</span><br />The output of research is a basic guideline into making the outstanding result of the implementation of Safe City Programmed concept to the community. Department of Town and Country Planning had implemented Safe City concept as one of the ways to reduce crime. The concept of Safe City aims at creating a safe and peaceful environment of city and housing, so as to reduce crime rate through environmental design principles, security and community development. Therefore, the study is to identify some of the aspects of community development of the Safe City concept in the Georgetown area in Penang. </span></p><p align="justify"><br /><span style="font-family:lucida grande;font-size:78%;color:#003333;">“Menjelang tahun 2020, dianggarkan hampir 65 peratus penduduk di Semenanjung Malaysia akan mendiami kawasan bandar. Kawasan bandar merupakan penggerak dan nadi kepada ekonomi yang berkonsepkan teknologi. Kesan perbandaran di negara ini tidak terkecuali daripada masalah aktiviti-aktiviti globalisasi, antaranya ialah risiko kesejahteraan dan keselamatan yang tinggi kerana bandar tidak lagi mempunyai ciri-ciri yang selesa [conducive] untuk memberi perlindungan kepada kesejahteraan hidup [well being] manusia [Zainuddin bin Hj. Public Safety personnel are stationed at the entrance points to check all persons entering the above mentioned buildings.If an individual, regardless of status, does not have valid identification, he/she should report to the Department of Student Life, University Center Student Service Window, ext. 6257 (Queens; Campus Center B11, ext. 4443 (Staten Island) or Room 627, ext. 9301 (Manhattan) to obtain identification. </span></div><span style="color:#ffff99;"><div align="right"><br /><span style="color:#ffffcc;">Public Safety; St. John's University</span><br /></div></span></span>Mohammad Mujaheed Bin Hassanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00480651810974836612noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4898208203008349086.post-27406802555641077862008-11-26T20:25:00.004+08:002008-12-26T23:48:07.572+08:00Bimbang Tebing Runtuh<div align="justify"><span style="font-family:times new roman;color:#ffff99;">KUALA LUMPUR 25 Nov. - Masalah hakisan sehingga menyebabkan keretakan pada tebing dinding rumah serta rekahan pada tebing longkang semakin membimbangkan penduduk Kampung Cheras Baru di sini.<br />Sejak kebelakangan ini, faktor cuaca menyebabkan masalah hakisan itu semakin teruk berikutan keadaan longkang terbabit yang sempit dan tidak mampu menampung aliran air yang banyak ketika hujan.<br />Keadaan itu menyebabkan air itu melimpah dan seterusnya mengakibatkan hakisan pada tebing longkang berkenaan.<br />Tinjauan Utusan Malaysia ke kampung tersebut mendapati, hampir kebanyakan longkang di kawasan terbabit mempunyai kesan hakisan.<br />Seorang penduduk yang ditemui, Yue Voon Seng, 39, berkata, rumah tersebut dibeli kakaknya sejak 10 tahun lepas, namun sejak beberapa bulan lalu, dia mengsan keretakan pada dinding rumahnya dan juga tebing longkang.<br />Katanya, keretakan pada longkang itu pula semakin membesar sehingga menyebabkan batu-batu mula jatuh ke dalamnya.<br />Jelasnya, sebelum ini, dia ada melaporkan masalah itu kepada Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) tetapi tiada tindakan diambil setakat ini.<br />"Keadaan longkang ini amat membimbangkan saya tetapi tiada tindakan diambil oleh DBKL, jadi saya buat aduan kepada MCA Bahagian Cheras pula.<br />"Tambahan pula, sekarang musim hujan, jadi saya sangat bimbang sekiranya tebing dinding tersebut akan runtuh," katanya ketika ditemui di rumahnya di Jalan Dua, Kampung Cheras Baru.<br />Seorang lagi penduduk yang ingin dikenali sebagai Rajesh, 34, memberitahu, sebelum ini DBKL pernah membaiki struktur longkang terbabit namun beberapa bulan selepas itu ia terhakis semula.<br />"Saya percaya hakisan ini berpunca daripada keadaan longkang tersebut yang sempit sehinggakan tidak dapat menampung kapasiti air yang banyak.<br />"Selain itu, kawasan ini agak bercerun menyebabkan aliran air sangat deras ketika hujan dan melonggarkan batu pada tebing longkang sehingga ia pecah.<br />"Saya harap DBKL dapat melihat melihat perkara ini dan membaikinya dengan segera," jelasnya.<br />Sementara itu, Setiausaha MCA Bahagian Cheras, Dr. Jeffrey Goh berkata, masalah tersebut bukanlah yang pertama berlaku di kawasan berkenaan kerana kawasan perumahan itu adalah kawasan kampung lama.<br />Katanya, memandangkan kawasan tersebut telah wujud sejak 45 tahun yang lalu, kebanyakan longkang-longkangnya telah berusia hampir 30 tahun dan strukturnya telah uzur.<br />Jelasnya, kebanyakan longkang yang terdapat di sekitar kawasan kampung itu sangat kecil serta tidak mampu menampung aliran air yang deras ketika hujan.<br />Jeffrey menambah, DBKL perlu memantau keadaan longkang di sekitar kawasan berkenaan bagi memastikan longkang-longkang di kawasan terbabit tidak terhakis akibat hujan sehingga menyebabkan tebing runtuh.<br />Beliau juga berharap DBKL mempunyai peruntukan khas untuk membaiki keadaan longkang berkenaan dengan segera.<br />Dalam pada itu, wakil Jabatan Kerja Awam DBKL memaklumkan bahawa beliau akan segera membuat laporan mengenai masalah itu dengan segera supaya kerja-kerja pembaikan dapat dilakukan secepat mungkin.</span></div><p align="justify"><br /> </p><div align="justify"><span style="font-family:times new roman;color:#ffff99;">Disediakan oleh Siti Airunnisa Alaui</span></div><div align="justify"><span style="font-family:times new roman;color:#ffff99;">Sumber: Utusan Malaysia </span></div>Mohammad Mujaheed Bin Hassanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00480651810974836612noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4898208203008349086.post-22344574998875891882008-11-22T21:04:00.005+08:002008-12-26T23:40:09.717+08:00Introduction of Public Safety<div align="justify"><span style="color:#ffff66;"><span style="font-family:times new roman;"><span style="color:#99ff99;">What is the defination of Quality Of Life to You?</span><br />Quality of life is the degree of well-being felt by an individual or group of people.Unlike standard of living, quality of life is not a tangible thing, and so cannot be measured directly.
